Over 100 million Americans suffer from chronic pain, more than diabetes, heart disease and cancer combined. According to WebMD, chronic pain is any pain that lasts longer than six months. It can be excruciating, episodic or continuous, merely inconvenient or totally incapacitating.

Signals of pain remain active in the nervous system for months or even years. This can take both a physical and mental toll on a person causing additional issues to make the situation worse such as anxiety, stress, depression, anger and fatigue.

To treat chronic pain, our current health care system will typically prescribe drugs to block the pain. Often patients are treated with 5 to 6 different medications at the same time, which can cause numerous side effects such as insomnia, constipation, diarrhea, and many other ailments. Worse, patients often become addicted to these drugs causing the need for more and more to block the same level of pain.
