BREAKTHROUGH – Glasses for the Colorblind Could Help Over 300 Million People See Normal Color for the First Time

There are over 300 million people in the world who are colorblind or have color vision deficiency. One in 12 men, and about one in 200 females, have some form of deficiency. People with color blindness may experience limitations with their occupation, sports, artistic pursuits, or even with basic tasks like getting dressed or identifying stop signs surrounded by trees. While color blindness is considered a mild disability, studies estimate that two thirds of those who have this condition feel it’s a handicap.

Today’s show we welcome Andrew Schmeder, CEO and co-founder of EnChroma, the company who brings color to the colorblind. Andrew and his company is the first of it’s kind to correct the balance between signals from the three photo pigments in the eye allowing people to see normal color for the first time.
