Gail Eisnitz

Gail Eisnitz is an investigative journalist and author of Slaughterhouse: The Shocking Story of Greed, Neglect, and Inhumane Treatment Inside the U.S. Meat Industry (Prometheus Books, 1997, 2007) and Out of Sight. She worked as the only female cruelty investigator at the largest animal protection organization in the country before moving to the Humane Farming Association, where she documented abuses at slaughterhouses and industrial farms; her findings prompted Congressional action and the first funding for enforcement of the Humane Methods of Slaughter Act.
